SAVE OUR CASTLE
I and the majority of the residents that I have spoken to in my area have never cared about the aircraft noise, but were devastated to find on the release of the ANEF 2025, that their properties were as good as worthless due to the affectations on their S149. Most purchased and built in Raymond Terrace with no restrictions being placed on their land, even with the odd F18 flying over our residents' homes for many years beforehand.
Actual Military aircraft noise over Raymond Terrace is infrequent, normally around lunchtime, weekdays and rarely late at night and weekends, even the Environmental study for the JSF at Williamtown stated:
'The ANEF system is primarily applicable to civilian aerodromes where numerous flights occur frequently every day and throughout the year. RAAF airfields differ from civilian aerodromes as flights are not as frequent and do not occur every day of the year. Furthermore, the operations of military aircraft can be managed, such as planned for the JSF, to not occur at sensitive times such as weekends and public holidays. The ANEF system does not take into account the measures to manage military flying operations and depicts cumulative noise impacts on an average flying day'.
It also states in it's conclusions:
'Noise insulation does not appear warranted by the anticipated change in aircraft noise as a result of the introduction of the JSF. The relative infrequent noise events, the planned periods of respite from aircraft noise and the small increase over ambient noise levels means that any benefit from insulation to reduce JSF noise would be minimal. The cost incurred would not be justified in comparison to the minimal benefit'
This is all interesting information and I wonder if Council had reviewed this before it ran out to place this ANEF 2025 on all our properties for our protection?
