Raymond Terrace
19 Aug 10 - Meeting of residents/Politicians at the Raymond Terrace Bowling Club.
Bob Baldwin reiterated the following from his letter sent out on the same day that
Save Our Castle (SOCastle)
· SOCastle will support the Grandfathering Clause to enable properties to revert to the original conditions placed on their S149 when they purchased their properties.
· SOCastle is not against any solutions that would remove the affectations on our S149
· SOCastle is not against any solutions that would reduce the noise footprint and spill out from the planes.
· SOCastle will pursue the Federal and State Governments as well as Council
· SOCastle would like to see Council resolve our dilemma before creating a similar mistake at Kings Hill
· SOCastle will collaborate with other similar groups.
· SOCastle will push for a resolution in writing.
· SOCastle committee is entirely made up of home owners interested in saving their properties.
· SOCastle will not be accepting monetary donations but would appreciate people helping out.
· As the Spokesperson for SOCastle, I have no ulterior interests other than to persue an outcome that would save our Castles.
Rally the community to canvas both Federal, State and local Council for a solution to remove the ANEF building restrictions from the affected Raymond Terrace residents.
Note: We are not anti RAAF, or anti development, but still expect to be treated respectfully and not like second class citizens that can be manipulated at Goverment's /Council's will.
Why have I produced this website?
I was on the committee of 'SafeEars' and have personally doorknocked/letterdropped on over 500 affected residents to drum up support for the cause.
After examination, I although do not agree on the direction SafeEars is heading, with its singular promotion of extending the runway and their refusal to listen to any reason.
There is no scientific evidence yet that extending the runway will reduce the ANEF by any great amount. What is known though is that extending the runway will allow larger/heavier aircraft to land and likely increasing the ANEF.
Defence has already purchased land East of the runway to do just that. SafeEars should fight for the reduction of the ANEF and let the Federal Goverment/Council/Defence come up with the solution.
